About Careers

Careers education in Ballyclare Secondary begins in year 8 and is delivered mainly through Education for Employability .  Education for employability continues from Year 8 to Year 12. Additional support and Guidance is offered from year 10 onwards.

Pupils leaving school and entering further education or employment face  ever increasing challenges. Careers education, information, advice and guidance makes a major contribution to enabling a learner to become employable. It provides the opportunities for a learner to develop the skills, competencies and dispositions required for successful sustained employment.

Careers Guidance and Employability combines individual counselling with taught modules and ICT support to help support and motivate learners as they make appropriate and realistic decisions about their future.

Our Careers library is an excellent resource, well equipped with a range of Careers documentation: books, prospectuses and information about a variety of careers. The school library also has a range of books available on career choice and applications. Staff are available during the school day and are happy to make individual appointments with pupils and parents as requested.
